Consultation

The key to having a good outcome with treatments is to understand the side effects, risks, benefits, and overall realistic outcomes this will have for you individually.

This is why taking the time to have a consultation is critical. Many of us see someone online, whether on social media, or a friend who has had treatment, and think that because they have got a certain outcome, that will be the same for us. Our faces are very individual, with different skin textures, asymmetries, muscle activation, volume loss, and signs of aging. No one face is the same, so your treatment shouldn’t be either.

At London & Surrey Aesthetics we aim to review each person individually, understand what you wish to accomplish, explain the different options and for you and have a bespoke package of treatment that helps you to achieve the look you want. This includes referral onwards if what we offer doesn’t meet your needs. We pride ourselves on our honesty and integrity.

It is also important during the consultation to ensure that you are aware of the different costs of treatment so that there are no surprises. Unfortunately, good skincare and treatment is not cheap. We only use the highest quality products to ensure your safety, and the effectiveness of your treatment, with the least amount of side effects possible. All fillers, skin boosters and anti-wrinkle treatments are ordered from a pharmacy to ensure the authenticity of products.

Medical conditions & treatments

There are some medical conditions that are outright contraindications for certain treatments and others that are precautions.

By precautions mean that your treating doctor may need to be consulted before treatment to ensure they are happy medically for you to have it. Or, in some cases you may be at higher risk of side effects such as bruising and swelling and so long as you are happy to have a higher risk, treatments can go ahead.

Some common conditions that are known to result in higher risk of complications are allergies, diabetes, autoimmune conditions (such as ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus), active acne, infections in the area, and previous herpes zoster (cold sores).

Medications can also interfere with treatments. For example, those on anticoagulants such as aspirin, warfarin, apixaban, clopidogrel, heparin, are at risk of bleeding and bruising as many procedures require the use of a needle.

There are specific restrictions for those who are pregnant or breast feeding as many treatments have never been tested and are generally contraindicated.
