Dermal Fillers for Nasolabial Lines
London and Surrey Aesthetic Clinic in Crystal Palace, London, offers a range of injectable fillers to help reduce the appearance of nasolabial lines, also known as smile lines. These lines form due to aging and the loss of volume in the face, causing wrinkles and sagging skin. The clinic’s experienced team of skincare practitioners are knowledgeable in the field of facial rejuvenation and can help patients with any questions they may have about the procedure.
The clinic offers a range of dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found in the body that helps to plump up and smooth the skin. It works by adding volume to the skin and filling in creases and fine lines, restoring a more youthful appearance.
The Procedure
The procedure for nasolabial line fillers involves injecting the filler into the area around the mouth and lips, where wrinkles and smile lines tend to form.
The practitioner will assess the depth of the wrinkles and determine the amount of filler needed to achieve the desired result.
The procedure is usually quick and requires only a few injections, with minimal swelling, bruising, and discomfort.
In some cases, a local anaesthetic may be used to reduce any pain or discomfort. Cannulas, which are blunt needles, are also used to minimise discomfort, bruising and bleeding.
The Benefits of Nasolabial Line Fillers
In addition to reducing the appearance of wrinkles and smile lines, nasolabial line fillers can help to restore volume to the face, resulting in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
The treatment can also help to smooth out sagging skin and improve the overall appearance of the area around the mouth and lips.
Risks and Considerations
Like any cosmetic procedure, nasolabial line fillers do come with some risks, including infection, swelling, and bruising. However, these risks are usually minimal and can be reduced by choosing a reputable clinic and an experienced practitioner.
It’s also important to avoid alcohol and exercise for a few hours after the procedure to minimize the risk of swelling.
Downtime and aftercare
Nasolabial fold filler treatments typically have minimal downtime, with patients able to return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. It is important however to avoid wearing cosmetic products like makeup for at least 6-12 hours after the injections. Do not touch the area especially if you haven’t washed your hands – we carry a lot of germs on our hands.
No heat should be used for 48 hours and that includes drinking hot drinks as well as going into steam rooms or saunas. Heat can make the filler more malleable, and it can then move to places we don’t wish it to go. High intensity exercise should be avoided for the first 48 hours, and alcohol should also be avoided for 24 hours too, as these increase the risk of bruising and of course increases heat. It is important not to massage the area. If there are any small lumps at 2 weeks, please come back to clinic so that we can assess them. Massaging the area can move the filler to places we don’t want it to go. Always use sunscreen after having filler treatment and avoid UV light for 48 hours after treatment. Avoid unnecessary pressure over the area treated especially in the first 24 hours.
Cost and Longevity
The cost of nasolabial line fillers will vary depending on the type of filler used and the amount needed. On average, the treatment can cost anywhere from £300 to £800. The longevity of the results will also vary depending on the type of filler used, but most results last between 9- 18 months.
Nasolabial line fillers are a great option for anyone looking to reduce the appearance of smile lines and restore a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The London and Surrey Aesthetic Clinic in Crystal Palace, London, offers a range of injectable fillers, and their experienced team of practitioners can help to answer any questions and create a personalized treatment plan for each patient.
