Advanced Microneedling Treatments

Reduce Wrinkles, Acne Scars, and Pigmentation with personalized microneedling treatments at London and Surrey Aesthetics

What is Microneedling

Microneedling uses tiny sterile needles  to superficially penetrate the skin, causing a small wound, which then stimulates the skin to increase collagen production and elastin.

Once healed, the skin looks rejuvenated with improved skin texture, volume, tone, and firmness. Some use the term ‘collagen induction therapy’ to describe the process.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is used for a wide variety of skin conditions and issues such as:

  • Improve Acne Scarring
  • Hair loss
  • Face Hyperpigmentation
  • Reduce Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Skin lacking elasticity
  • Sun damage

During microneedling procedures, there is also the possibility of using various serums which will penetrate the skin more easily via the tiny wounds left behind.

Micro needling is generally less expensive than laser and doesn’t involve heat, which is safer for people with darker skin complexions and an increased risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

There is some debate about whether numbing cream should be used during micro-needling procedures. Ultimately, numbing cream can often result in reduced circulation in the skin (local anaesthetic is a vasoconstrictor and therefore blood vessels narrow, reducing circulation). Part of the point of the treatment is to increase blood flow to the area to stimulate the skin to produce more collagen and elastin. Therefore, by restricting blood flow with the numbing cream, it has a counterproductive effect. Generally microneedling isn’t very painful and most cope without numbing cream. If you have combined treatment of radiofrequency with microneedling, then this is painful and numbing cream is typically required. We don’t offer this combined treatment.

It takes time to notice a difference with this treatment because the body has to heal. Most need to have a few treatments to see the full effects, in a similar way to skin boosters.

There has been an upsurge in home dermaroller and needling kits. These do not penetrate as far as the machine and can cause infection if they are not cleaned properly. We can discuss whether these are appropriate for you during your consultation.

Your Microneedling Questions Answered

How many sessions will I need?

Most people see the best results with a series of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. The exact number depends on your specific skin concerns and how quickly your skin responds to treatment.

Is it painful?

A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort. Most clients report feeling a mild prickling sensation, which is usually well-tolerated.

Are there any side effects or risks?

Microneedling is generally considered safe when performed by a trained professional. Temporary redness, minor swelling, or light flaking are common but typically subside within a few days.

When will I see results?

Some people notice a fresh glow and smoother texture within the first week. However, full benefits develop over several weeks as collagen and elastin production ramps up.

Who should avoid microneedling?

Individuals with active acne, certain skin infections, or specific medical conditions may not be good candidates. A consultation helps determine if microneedling is suitable for you.

Is there downtime?

There’s usually minimal downtime. Mild redness can occur right after treatment, but most clients can return to their normal routines the following day.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies depending on the number of sessions and any additional therapies included in your personalized plan. Contact the clinic for detailed information or to schedule a consultation.

Client Reviews

Aesthetic clinic in Crystal Palace, London
I had a really great experience with this clinic. I knew nothing about skin or what my skincare should have been and Marie was able to complete a really thorough consultation that was individual to my needs. I now have a proper skin routine that is focused on my combo skin and it’s never looked better!

I have had botox and cheek filler with Marie and am super happy with the result. Marie is very thorough and focused on ensuring the results looked natural and enhanced my natural look (i.e) how I looked 10 years ago! She also gave me great skin care advice which has really helped my confidence (and skin).
Clare
I've visited Marie for a couple of treatments recently, and would highly recommend her. She is knowledgeable and thorough in the consultation, and seems to know exactly what's needed to sort the areas that I'm not happy with. Marie has really sorted my jowls with filler so naturally, it has taken years off!
