Downtime and Aftercare
Cheek filler treatments typically have minimal downtime, with patients able to return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. It is important however to avoid wearing cosmetic products like makeup for at least 6-12 hours after the injections. Do not touch the area especially if you haven’t washed your hands – we carry a lot of germs on our hands.
No heat should be used for 48 hours and that includes drinking hot drinks as well as going into steam rooms or saunas. Heat can make the filler more malleable, and it can then move to places we don’t wish it to go. High intensity exercise should be avoided for the first 48 hours, and alcohol should also be avoided for 24 hours too, as these increase the risk of bruising and of course increases heat. It is important not to massage the area. If there are any small lumps at 2 weeks, please come back to clinic so that we can assess them. Massaging the area can move the filler to places we don’t want it to go. Always use sunscreen after having filler treatment and avoid UV light for 48 hours after treatment. Avoid unnecessary pressure over the area treated especially in the first 24 hours.
